Statements about how things ought to be.

Example

Here is a descriptive statement: (to contrast with)

“The sky is blue”

A normative spinoff could be:

“The sky ought to be blue”

Let’s presuppose the normative statement above is true (for the sake of example). If you then observe the sky and perceive it as… purple (let’s say), then something’s wrong

(it ought not be that way).
