About Me
About Me
My name is Elias, I’m 22 years old, and I’m very interested in more or less everything. My chosen field of professional work is computers and electronics. I work with the whole process from developing and deploying user-facing software, to system administration and hardware work in server rooms and on electronics. On my spare-time I enjoy reading, writing, configuring linux, making/playing music, bouldering, jiu-jitsu, maintaining simple websites, drawing, cooking, wood-carving and a whole lot more. Preferred working environment is a minimal unix-like operating system, with simple tools like a tiling window manager, terminal emulator, tmux and neovim.
Professional Interests and Motivation
I enjoy learning about subjects in-depth; preferrably in a way that expands my horizon outwards instead of specializing in a single subject. For this reason I have a lot of connected interests and function a lot better when understanding and dealing with subjects and processes in a wholistic way, rather than in more narrow enclosed matters. With regards to application development, I generally prefer backend over frontend, web over mobile, and things I know less about over things I know more about. I have dipped my feet into most matters I have come across and always want to learn more.

I generally don’t like conventional social media. I do have accounts on some platforms but stay away from most of them. I will grab the opportunity to delete my account if the networking effect looses it’s grip (with some exceptions). I also don’t post anything but my mail here as I only want people I actually know in real life to be able to contact me otherwise.
Still I’m interested in projects that attempts to make social media suck less. My pragmatic go-to ended up being Signal (a reasonable middle-ground between privacy, security and usability in my opinion). I would have preferred Session if it was more reliable though. I’m also interested in XMPP-based solutions like Prosody and Snikket (though I haven’t gotten to play with them yet)
